Lentils with Carrots & Onions
Version Francaise
- 4 morceaux de poulet
- 3 cuillere a soupe de tomate concentree
- 1 tomate fraiche
- 1 moitie d’oinion taille moyenne
- 1/2 d’aubergine
-2 carrotes
- 1 feuille de laurier
- 1 cuillere a cafe d’huile
- sel et poivre
- 2.5 tasse de riz (jasmine, ou basmati ou autre: ajuster le temps de cuisson de maniere appropriee).
Caramaliser onion et poulet. Rajouter sel et poivre et laurier.
Couper tomate en cube et rajouter au melange. Mixer, couvirer et laisser cuire 5 minutes a feu moyen.
Rajouter 4 tasses d’eau et tomate concentrer. Mixer et laisser cuire 15 minutes.
Rajouter legumes et sel et poivre (comme approprie), couvrir laisser cuire 20 minutes a feu moyen.
Enlever legumes et pouler et garder de cote. Rajouter 2.5 tasse de riz et laisser cuire a feu eleve, sans couvrir pendant 5 minutes ou jusqu’a ce que l;eau soit absorbe (melanger une ou deux fois pour eviter que le riz colle au niveau de la base)
Couvrir, laisser cuire a fait doux pendant environ 20 minutes. Verifier de temps a temps.
English Version
- 4 pieces of chicken
- 3 table spoons of tomato paste
- 1 tomato
- 1/2 a medium onion
- 1/2 eggplant
- 2.5 cups of thai Jasmine rice, basmati rice (or any other rice you prefer, the cooking time and the amount of tomatoe stock you ll need)
- 2 medium carrots
- 1 bay leave
- 1 teaspoon of oil
- pepper, salt
Caramelize onions and chicken in oil and add bay leave.Add salt and pepper.
Add chopped tomato, mix, cover and wait for 5 minutes in medium heat.
Add 4 cups of water and the tomato paste. Cover and let cook in medium heat for 15 minutes.
Add carrots and eggplant. Cover and let cook for 20 minutes in medium heat. Add salt and pepper as appropriate.
Remove, chicken and vegetables and store separately.
Add rice in stock and turn heat to medium high. Let cook without covering in medium high for about 5 minutes (mixing once in while to avoid sticking at the bottom) or until the water is completely absorbed by rice.
Cover and let cook in low heat (as low as possible) for about 20 minutes.
Rice is ready. Eat with vegetables and Chicken.

Pakistan: MSF treats wounded from bomb blast in Hangu
MSF treated 55 injured patients after a major explosion outside two mosques in Hangu, Pakistan. The bomb blast killed several and injured dozens of people leaving the mosques after Friday prayers.
The explosion was close to the hospital, patients began arriving within minutes. Our medical team began to rapidly identify and give priority to patient’s medical needs according to the severity of their injuries. “We were racing against time to treat and stabilise the patients,” says MSF Project Coordinator, Cédric Linossier.
